The skunks are back with a new board and a fresh take on surfing Lance’s Right.
After stepping off of the CI Twin Pin, our appetite for sole arches and stick-and-poke tattoos had diminished, replaced by a hunger for high performance. This sparked a search for a more refined blade. A board made for tighter lines and bigger turns.
Luckily for us, Michael Ciaramella, Stab Magazine’s leading surfboard connoisseur, had recently tested a variety of performance surfboards, with the aim of finding the board most suited to the power and precision of the Mentawai’s. Mikey opted for the Pyzel Radius — a slender, early 2000’s inspired shape designed with excellent waves in mind. Confident in Mikey’s ability to sort the magnificent from the mediocre, we followed suit, snapping up a fresh Pyzel and putting it to the test at one of the Mentawai’s most perfect waves, Hollow Trees.
